So my presentation went pretty well, but after comments from my classmates I believe I should take my essay in a different direction and focus more on the slavery aspect of Truth's life. I tried attaching my powerpoint but so far have been unable to figure it out, so I'll go slide by slide.
First Slide: Title
Second Slide: Background on narrative
Third Slide: Thesis statement and planned structure
Fourth Slide: Topics of the essay
Fifth Slide: Questions for the class
Ironically the most common comment is that I had TOO much information, I guess I'll take that as a positive :)
It is a good thing to have too much information! I thought that your presentation was really good. I see what everyone was saying about the "too much information" being a bad thing but I also see it as being a good thing! Because some people might be scrounging (like me) to get at least 8 pages, but with the amount of information that you have, you can just write it all down! That way, you can go through it later and see maybe what doesn't fit, or something that might stick out and edit it then back down to 8 pages/2,000 words if it's too long.

I read your lower blog entry about worrying about the presentation--overall it was a great presentation and I liked how much information you brought to it. I think from here on out, as you said, you just have to take it all and figure out what you don't need and what you do-10-12 pages feels like plenty of space but the pages will fill up quickly!!

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your presentation. It sounded like a lot of information was covered in that novel. She led such a long fascinating life. I hope your paper writing went well because all of your topics were great ideas. I know when I do things for school I always go overboard. My new motto is Kiss- Keep It Simple Silly- I hate that I have to remind myself that, but sometimes when you keep it simple it makes your life so much easier. Enjoy your Vacation. I know I can't wait.
